The Catholic Church teaches that a Eucharistic miracle occurs at every Holy Mass when the substance of bread and wine is transformed into the substance of Jesus’ body and blood. Additionally, the term “Eucharistic miracle" can also refer to extraordinary empirical signs of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, such as bleeding hosts or the transmutation of a consecrated host into a piece of cardiac muscle tissue. The exhibit at St. Charles on January 25-26 will feature Eucharistic miracles involving extraordinary empirical signs that have occurred in Argentina, Belgium, France, Italy, Poland, Germany and other places around the world from the 1200’s to the current century.
